My story

[p]On New Years Eve 2011, our lives changed changed forever when our two and a half year old daughter Maude died in the night from undiagnosed sepsis. Nothing could have prepared Jason and I for the devastation of losing our child. For any parent it is without doubt their biggest fear. Our world collapsed in an instant. The unbearable shock and grief we were plunged into was utterly incomprehensible and felt insurmountable. Feeling completely alone in a strange new world, I was compelled to speak to other bereaved parents. I needed to know I wasn't going mad and there was a way to navigate through this agony and one day hopefully find happiness again.[/p][p]Child Bereavement UK helps bereaved children and parents and is a charity close to my heart. It provides support for families and educates professionals both when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, and when a child is facing bereavement. Every year they train more than 10,000 professionals, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families.[/p][p]This year Child Bereavement UK celebrate their 25th year. To mark this important milestone and raise vital funds, myself and Susie have teamed up with an all female team which will be summiting 3 peaks in 3 countries in 3 days in the Alps. Over the 3 days we will be climbing peaks in Italy, France and Switzerland, reaching altitudes over twice as high as Ben Nevis. [/p][p]On each day of our challenge we will summit a different peak in a new country, including; Testa Della Tronche, Italy (2,581m), Bel Oiseau, Switzerland (2,628m) and Aiguilette de Posettes, France (2,201). Over the three days we will be reaching combined altitudes of 7,410 meters (24,311 feet).[/p][p]We would be so grateful for any donations, and any amount will help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you can give.[/p][p]Why we are supporting Child Bereavement UK[/p][p]* Every 22 minutes a parent dies leaving dependent children. Around 111 children are bereaved of a parent every day[/p][p]* Around 28 babies, children and young people under the age of 25 die each day in the UK- over 10,000 each year[/p][p] Child Bereavement UK's vision is for all families to have the support they need to rebuild their lives, when a child grieves or when a child dies, and we want to help them to achieve this through our team Alpine Challenge. [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
