Team story

[p]Being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease whilst in my 40's was life changing. Parkinson's Disease is a progressive degenerative neurological disease for which there is currently no cure. It affects 130,000 people in the UK and around 5% of us are under the age of 50. [/p][p]The symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease impact on every aspect of daily life. Exercise is essential to help battle this disease and setting a physical challenge gives an added incentive to keep fit. The challenge? To cycle 500km through Vietnam and Cambodia to raise funds for The Cure Parkinson's Trust, a charity that funds research into treatments that have the potential to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s Disease. https://www.cureparkinsons.org.uk[/p][p]In November this year, a team of sixteen 'Cyclopaths', set off for Vietnam and cycled over 500km in the humidity and 35° heat of Southeast Asia for what turned out to be one of life’s truly amazing adventures. None of us would really have called ourselves cyclists but after months of training, we were ready to face the many, many challenges cycling in these wonderful countries offered. You can read our blog at: thecyclopaths.wordpress.com[/p][p]We have been amazed by the support and interest we have had in our challenge and overwhelmed by your generosity. We have exceeded our £35,000 fundraising target, but as donations are still coming in, we will keep this site open until the end of February. [/p][p]Thank you from all of us for your interest, support and generosity.[/p]
