My story

[p]We are currently in very uncertain times and the COVID-19 situation is taking its toll on so many of us. I appreciate that for many of us, giving a donation at this time is not possible but if you are able to donate and help an amazing group of people who volunteer their time to be put in harms way then I would appreciate your sponsorship for my 'Stay Home' virtual challenge in aid of Exmoor Search and Rescue Team.[/p][p]So, on the 10th May 2020, my crazy challenge is to complete 10 kilometres on foot within the confines of my property while also climbing the combined height of the three highest points in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, that's 1540 metres of up while running 10km. Each lap of my property is 50 metres and I will use my flat roof garage, my children's climbing frame and a pallet built obstacle to ascend 8 metres per lap! The challenge will consist of 200 laps, this will allow for any GPS wobbles so I cover the required distance and elevation! [/p][p]Why have I chosen the Exmoor Search and Rescue Team I hear you ask? [/p][p]This amazing group of volunteers put themselves in harms way, day and night and in all weathers to search and rescue for those in need. The team is totally manned by volunteers, their facilities, vehicles, equipment and clothing is all paid for by fundraising (no government funding) and they are deployed by the police force as a blue light service! These heroes keep on giving and in this time of uncertainty and vulnerability they have had to purchase all of the required PPE to deal with any casualties that may be showing signs of COVID-19. It's criminal that they have received nothing form the government to protect them while they put others lives before their own and for that reason I am fundraising to help them STAY SAFE during this pandemic. [/p][p]There are more than enough people raising funds for the NHS (A public funded government department) and I feel it is my duty to raise awareness and funds for those who seem to have been forgotten but are still doing a first class job, for FREE! [/p][p]I have always had great support from the team and it's my turn to return the favour and I love it if you could help me do that. [/p][p]Check out the photos below if you want to see what the challenge is amounting to! I'll regularly update these as the challenge gets closer and the course is set! [/p][p]Thank you in advance for your support and let's see if we can help get these guys fully kitted out as the rightly should be. :-)[/p]
