My story

[p]I feel honoured to have the opportunity to run the London Marathon on behalf of South Kent Mind. Although I wouldn’t consider myself an amateur runner, I wouldn’t go as far as classing myself as an elite marathon runner having only been running since January 2020, with exception to 249km in 25days fundraiser for another charity close to my heart, in July 2019.[/p][p]Through experiences of family breakdown and co-parenting struggles I have had to strongly focus on looking after my mental health during and after the time of these issues. Running is something that I feel that massively helps my mental health. It ticks 2 boxes I enjoy which is exercising and being outside. Everyone has their own many ways and means of coping with life, mine is running, running into it head on. Theres always and end to running, and it will be over before we know it. I feel it also gives you a clear head during and after so it’s my little ray of sunshine I need. [/p][p]That’s my story but everyone has their own story to go through. [/p][p]There are no criteria of who, which mental health can affect. South Kent Mind is a great advocate of this and has many ways of providing that; [/p][p]• Providing individual needs through a personal centred approach. [/p][p]• Rebuilding resilience to improve mental health and physical wellbeing. [/p][p]• Developing better support on the risk of self-harming and/or suicide. [/p][p]16M people in the UK experience a mental illness.[/p][p]75% of young people with a mental health problem are not receiving treatment. [/p][p]For men under 35, suicide is the largest cause of death. [/p][p]Just £7.50 will pay for a member to receive counselling. [/p][p]Every donation will not only help me and give me the drive to finish in a good time, but more importantly help every other person that needs support. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. [/p][p]Virgin Money is a not for profit organisation and will claim Gft Aid on a charities behalf where the donor is eligible. Where £10 is donated the charity will receive £12.50 after Gift Aid. [/p][p][br][/p][p]I really appreciate all of your support and thank you for your donations. [/p]
