My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]I am going to be fulfilling a long-time ambition by riding the length of the country from Land's End to John O' Groats over 9 days in September.  The route covers some 969 miles, which means averaging 108 miles a day.  I am a lapsed super keen cyclist and triathlete, that nowadays struggles with time management and work-life balance, and so this will definitely be a tough, but exciting, challenge for me.[/p][p]Please do sponsor me, as I will be raising money for an important cause.  [/p][lt]p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"[gt][b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]IntoUniversity[/span][/b][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"[gt][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]The UK has one of the widest educational and social achievement gaps in the world. Among Britain’s poorest families young people are nearly four times less likely to go to university than their peers from the most advantaged backgrounds, and they are over ten and a half times less likely to attend the most selective universities. What’s more, children from disadvantaged backgrounds with low levels of educational attainment are almost five times more likely to live in poverty in adulthood.[/span][/p][p] [b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]Into[/span][/b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]University aims to address this societal imbalance by working within disadvantaged communities across the UK in order to raise the aspirations of children and young people most at risk of educational failure. Each of [/span][b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]Into[/span][/b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]University’s 22 local learning centres, based in seven UK cities, deliver an integrated programme of long-term academic and pastoral support to over 1,000 students aged 7 -18 every year. This programme includes after school academic support, one-to-one mentoring, and aspiration-raising FOCUS weeks delivered in partnership with universities and corporate partners.[/span][/p][p] [span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]Last year, [/span][b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]Into[/span][/b][span=font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;]University supported over 25,500 children and young people to aspire and achieve their full potential. With your backing, they can continue helping students across the country to break from cycles of deprivation and underachievement, opening up a world of new life-possibilities and transforming their lives for the better.[/span][/p][p] Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
