[p]Dash to the Med [/p] [p]September 2016[/p] [p] [/p] [p]1 great idea[/p] [p]4 fantastic charities[/p] [p]16 cars and [/p] [p]32 men who claim to be adults[/p] [p]What could possibly go wrong? Well let’s see![/p][p].[/p][p]Well, we did see![/p][p]And it went very well, thank you![/p][p].[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]***W E   A L L  M A D E  IT ***[/span][/p][p]All 32 cars set off from the Black Horse in Reigate, and despite some issues all cars arrived in Cannes to a great welcome just off the beach front.[/p][p]We set about this challenge to raise some money for 4 awesome charaties. And raise some money we did, a lot of money. An aweful lot of money.[/p][p]A huge thank you to all of the people and companies who have sponsored us. We are honestly very very grateful. Over the next few weeks we will be speaking to our charity partners and we will post up pictures of the 'cheque handovers' as soon as we have them. Keep an eye on our social media feeds.[/p][p]What next? Well its back to reality for the drivers. It's back to the UK for some cars, others were scrapped in Cannes - It was sad to see them go.[/p][p]Can 32 men get together and organise a dash to the med?[/p][p]Yes they can, led by our very own Chris Driscoll in car 13 - Good Job Disco.[/p][p]We have 4 very happy charaties who will put the money to great use. Some money is still coming in, and we are of course open for a few bob more... :-)[/p][p]For now it's a big thank you again from your drivers.[/p][p].[/p][p].[/p][p][/p][p]Follow us on F A C E B O O K and I N S T A G R A M[/p][p]Just go to both, or either, and search 'Dash to the Med' - Simples...[/p][p]- 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - [/p][p][/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]Our Previous posts and information is below.[/span][/p][p][/p][p]SEE ALL THE CARS AND DRIVERS[/p][p][span=color: #000000;]Wednesday 21st September - The Black Horse Pub - Reigate - RH2 9JZ - the fun starts from 12 noon - ALL THE CARS ARRIVE AT 4.00PM - Meet some celebs, meet some seriously worried drivers, sign the cars...hey, sign the drivers...enjoy some great food, enjoy live music, video booths and wish the guys well for their drive ahead. (Please bring a spanner or two)[/span][/p][p]All of the cars have been bought now, and what a variety! 2 seaters, 8 seaters, runners and not yet runners! In car playlists are being assembled, with none other than Mr Bruce Dickinson, lead singer with Iron Maiden and in car 9, greatly assisting! Look at our Facebook page, just search Dash to the Med and PLEASE share it, thank you all. [/p][p] - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - [/p][p]The Dash to the Med starts on Wednesday 21[sup]st[/sup] of September from Reigate in Surrey and ends in Cannes, France, on Saturday the 24[sup]th[/sup] of September. The 16 cars can only cost a maximum of £500, with a 10% ‘dressing up and repair’ allowance. Motorways are not allowed as part of the route.[/p] [p][/p] [p]Each driver team has promised to raise a minimum of £1000, so we already have an incredible £16,000 towards our charity donation goal of £75,000. ImportantlyALL costs relating to this challenge are borne by the car teams. Every penny raised goes to our chosen charities.[/p] [p][/p] [p]Our chosen charities are:[/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]1  Variety [/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]2  ESDAS [/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]3  The Children’s Trust [/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]4  RGS Foundation[/span][/p] [p]We will be splitting the raised money equally between these 4 highly worthwhile causes. As with all charity events we hold special reasons for supporting these local and national hardworking charities. More information on them is at the bottom of this page, and by clicking the logos opposite.[/p] [p][/p] [p]Please donate.[/p] [p]If you have stumbled upon this page or have seen our challenge in the press then hi, thanks for stopping by! Inspired by the philosophy of our founders we recognise that such benefaction enriches our school, enhances academic standards, is socially inclusive and widens educational opportunity. The initial campaign goal of raising £1 million by 2016 to allow for twenty ‘1675 Scholars’ to attend RGS has been achieved a year early. To date we have raised £1.2m and there are currently twenty-one ‘1675 Scholars’ at RGS. Now the focus is firmly on the longer-term aim to build this fund to £4 million and fifty ‘1675 Scholars’ by 2025 to mark the school’s 350th anniversary.[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]-------------------------------------------------------------------[/p] [p][/p] [p][/p]
