My story

[p]So, I'll be taking on the Barnstaple Marathon in September. I have ran 10k's and 1/2's before but never a full 26.2 miles. Although I'm a keen runner, running a full marathon is a completely different ball game! Training for this takes time, lots of time! I will have to get 3 hour plus runs in at least once per week, which means even less time at home with my family. I already work long hours, 7 days per week as a self employed personal trainer and now I need to add long runs to my to do list![/p][p]However, the cause makes it all worthwhile. I seen an advert on Facebook, "runners needed for the Barnstaple Marathon, paid for entry". The paid for entry is what grabbed me, I won't lie.... I love free stuff, especially running stuff! I read the ad and seen what the Hospice do which really did pull me in and make me want to get involved. [/p][p]North Devon Hospice have been offering care and support to the people of North Devon who are affected by a life-limiting illness since 1984. They started with a single Community Nurse, covering the entire North Devon area. They now care for around 3,000 people every year, offering specialist care to patients at home and at the hospice, while supporting the whole family throughout these toughest of times. They cover one of the largest geographical areas of any hospice in the UK, covering over 800 square miles.[/p][p]I can’t imagine what it must be like to have a life limiting illness, or to have a family member going through it. It’s charities like this that make it that little bit more bearable. I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to help such a worthwhile cause.
