My story

[p]Hello, [/p][p]My dad, Michael, passed away in May 2017 after a long time coping with cancer. In his final weeks, he received brilliant and compassionate care from all the staff at St Joseph's Hospice, Hackney. I have decided to run the 2018 London Marathon in my dad's memory and I will be raising money for St Joseph's to thank them for their incredible care. [/p][p]I started running in 2014 and since then I have run numerous half marathons and 10k's, including the Hackney Half Marathon last year whilst my dad was an inpatient at St Joseph's. The race went past the hospice and the staff managed to get him positioned in the window so he could watch me go past, which made for a very happy memory during a very sad time.[/p][p]I'm really excited by the challenge of running my first full marathon and ever since I was a child I have dreamed of running the London Marathon. I think it's going to be a big step up to reach 26.2 miles but with your support I am ready![/p][p]Thanks so much for any donations, however big or small, it is really appreciated.[/p][p]David[/p][p]Here are just some of the ways your donation could help St Joseph's Hospice:[/p][p]* £5 could buy headphones so a patient can enjoy music when they like[/p][p]* £31.57 could pay a physiotherapist to work with a patient to help them become more mobile, manage breathlessness, fatigue and pain and have a better quality of life[/p][p]* £50 could pay for bereavement counselling for family and friends[/p][p]* £101.36 could pay for one of their community nurses to visit a patient in their own home[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
