And things will only get worse…"[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]I then explained that I was a 44 year old solicitor, married with three children (aged 14, 12 and 11) who, at 37, had been diagnosed with a rare, degenerative, neurological condition called Cerebellar Ataxia, for which there was no treatment or cure.[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]I also explained that, before time ran out on me in life, I was going to try and ride a specially–modified recumbent trike across southern Israel over 5 days in November supported by two friends: Paul Tuhrim and Stephen Harrison, to raise money for Norwood, a charity for children with disabilities. [lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]I honestly thought that if I did not do a bike ride then, I may never be able do one again physically. Little did I know then what would happen next.[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]Unbelievably, I not only did that bike ride successfully in 2011, but then (again with Paul and Stephen’s help) I did three further international bike rides; across Sri Lanka in 2012 and then across northern Israel and Madagascar in 2013, back to back. Between us, we have so far raised nearly £100,000 for Norwood. [lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]It's been an incredible journey for me and I've become a lot stronger, both physically and mentally. I really thought that I may not be able to do one ride, then two; then last year, I honestly thought it would be my last year physically, which is why I did two - one after the other, as I thought that I could then go out on a high![lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]However, this year, although my condition is still deteriorating, I feel that I can still do another ride. But this time I want it to be different. This time I want to realise another dream.  So this year, as well as with Paul and Stephen, I am going to try and do a ride with my (now 17-year-old) son, Zachi. I want us to make a memory together that we can remember when looking back on our lives, as well as raise money for charity. [lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]This is where I need your help – please sponsor us (maybe again) and help me once more make a difference, both to my life and to other people’s lives, which you can do at:[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]I have also learnt something simple but very important about myself during these past few years, which I could not have done without other people’s help, which is:[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]I will never let myself give up…[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]With best wishes[lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]Douglas [lt]/div[gt] [lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;"[gt]P.S.
