My story

[lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]Hello from Team Tanzania! Thank you very much for coming to visit our page. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]EGP Tanzania 2014 is part of Edinburgh Global Partnerships, a non-profit charity run by students at Edinburgh University which supports community led, sustainable development projects across Latin America, Africa and Asia. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]In the summer of 2014, we are heading to Tanzania; a country which ranks 199th in the world for GDP per capita with a mere $1,600 making it one of the world's poorest countries. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]We will be working alongside YES! Tanzania (Youth Empowerment Through Sport) in the town of Usa River during the construction of a multi-sports court which will, when completed, be available for use by the whole community. We will also be delivering sports leadership qualifications alongside English language and voactional training. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]This will undoubtedly improve the employable skills within the community and allow more people to get jobs and support their families with their increased incomes. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]All 300 young people that currently benefit from the work of YES! Tanzania in Usa River will receive assistance as part of our project. Furthermore, the wider benefits will be to attract more young people within the community so that they receive support from the various sporting and educational elements of the programme.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]One of the benefits of this project is that it is extremely sustainable. This is not a programme of one-off aid with short term benefits. This project helps the people of Usa River to help themselves with the opportunity for them to gain employment and put food on the table for their families. Therefore, the effects of our work will be felt long after our six week project. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]Every penny that we raise is spent entirely on the project itself, with all individual expenses such as flights, accommodation and food etc being covered by the volunteers. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]In order to carry out this work we are aiming to raise £7,700...[/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]This is where you come in! We need your help to really make a difference in Tanzania. You can make a donation, no matter how small or large through our Virgin Money Giving page. Gift aid can be claimed on the charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]EGP is a registered charity and all the money raised goes towards the relief of poverty and the advancement of knowledge of cultural differences and cultural exchange. Therefore, all the money raised really does go directly to the issue at hand. So, if possible, please made a donation so that we can reach our target! [/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]Thank you very much for your generosity,[/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]Team Tanzania X[/p]
