Team story

[p]UPDATE: we have completed our adventure. Exhilarating, frustrating, exhausting and great fun. We met a fantastic group of people and enjoyed ourselves immensely (not so much the camping!). Thank you to all our fantastic contributors - there's still time to donate to the MS Society to help with research into this awful disabling disease the nervous system and, hopefully, find a cure within our lifetime.[/p][p]To view our video of the trip please visit https://youtu.be/ucGeJ3G4R24[/p][p]Four friends: Rob Hayward and Pete Collins (team Mustang), Ken Balneaves and Martin Duffell (team Bentley). This is an entirely self-funded 2,000 mile European road trip with 100% of donations (plus any gift aid) going to the MS Society for research, campaigning, support and information. We will be driving some of the iconic roads featured in the James Bond films, motoring through 8 countries in 4 days (France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Lichtenstein, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium) in two high performance motor cars - a Ford Mustang 5.0 litre V8 GT convertible and a Bentley Continental 6.0 litre W12 GTC convertible. And to bring us down to earth, literally, we will be camping each night next to the cars. No mean feat as we’re all over 60![/p][p]The trip will be carbon neutral. We have calculated and offset our expected emissions for both cars over the estimated 1,800 miles.[/p][p]This adventure will test our driving skills, willpower, endurance and friendships![/p][p]The MS Society is the UK's largest organisation dedicated to supporting over 100,000 people, their families and carers, affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common neurological disorder among young adults and is usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 45.[/p][p]The focus of the Society is to provide support today, whilst funding vital medical research to find a cure for the future. Key services and projects include a national freephone helpline, support for young people caring for families or relatives with MS, funding a dedicated MRI scanner for the diagnosis of MS, providing award-winning information publications, and offering welfare grants for home adaptations and wheelchairs. All the money raised on this challenge will be allocated to research. [/p][p]Please give generously to help us raise funds for this amazing charity and help them to continue their valuable work. Thank you.[/p]
