Team story

[lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]On 1st January 2017 uncle and nephew team Jonathan and William will be heading off on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We'll be driving from one end of India to the other, an epic 2,500-odd kilometer escapade across an entire sub-continent in just 14 days.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]We're covering the whole distance in what can only be described as a 7 horsepower, three wheeled, glorified lawnmower. Styled as Ganesha, the hindu elephant god of travel and success. How else?![/p][p][lt]img title="The Route" src="http://i60.tinypic.com/1z32ej7.png" alt="Rickshaw Run Route Map" width="319" height="195" /[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]The Rickshaw Run is notionally organised by The Adventurists (they provide us with the rickshaw and a party at the end). However, there is no set route, no back up and no way of knowing if we're going to make it or not. The only certainties being that we'll get lost, get stuck and breakdown often as we battle India's roads and all sorts of other challenges, driving from 6am until sundown each day to make the finish line in time.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Our plan is to raise over £3,000 for charity, with the proceeds split three ways between our chosen organisations:[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]1) Cool Earth - The official charity of the Rickshaw Run organisers, this is a brilliant organisation that works alonside indigenous villages to prevent rainforest destruction.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]A donation of just £60 saves ONE ACRE of rainforest (a bargain, eh?), £150 will help keep a child in school for a year and £300 will fund an emergency evacuation for hospital treatment.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]2) Frank Water Projects - An 11 year old Bristol based charity that sets up sustainable, community-owned clean water projects in some of the poorest communities in India. To date they've worked with 298 communities, providing access to safe, clean drinking water for over 326,000 people.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]3) Chesnut Tree House - The children's hospice for Sussex which cares for 300 children and young adults between the ages of 0-19 with progressive life-shortening conditions.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]If anyone is able to donate £100+ we're happy to promote your business / organisation on our rickshaw. Please get in touch if you are interested![/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]For just £25+ we'll also trust our lovely supporters enough to set us a challenge to complete (within reason!) while we're on the road. We'll give it our best and post evidence of our triumphs en route. Just let us know your weird and wonderful ideas in the comments below, or on our facebook page.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Otherwise, every penny counts, so please feel free to give whatever you can afford :)[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]For more details and to read our blog, check out our website [INSERT][/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]We'll be posting our live tracker on there once its up and running, so you can see how we're getting on.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]You can also follow our progress on our facebook page.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Many thanks for your support and see you on the other side![/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Jonathan and William[/p][p][/p]
