My story

[p][span=color: #800000;]“Enabling Sustainability through Education, Family Support and Health Care.” [/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]Established in 2008, Grace House Community Centre is situated outside Siem Reap, Cambodia on the way to Tonle Sap Lake. The centre provides free English, General Education, Computer and Vocational Training to 300 children and young people aged 3 – 24 years and their families.[/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]The families we support are living on the poverty line, many being subsistence farmers or fishermen. By providing English language classes we aim to break the poverty cycle and enable these children to gain a full education. In providing Vocational Training in Computer Skills and Weaving, young people and disadvantage women are taught skills and able to earn a living.[/span][/p] [p][span=color: #000080;]We support the families to keep the children at state school by providing uniforms, books and bicycles. We assist the families to access a good diet, clean water, sanitation, health care, a sound house and safe electricity. We work with the families to maintain the family unit and prevent children being placed in orphanages through poverty.[/span][/p][p][span=color: #000080;]Our Children with Special Needs programme provides education, therapies and play to children with disabilities in Siem Reap and surrounding areas. A small group home "Preahkoun House" provides transitional, respite and out of hours care for children with disabilities. We visited grace house and volunteered for 6 weeks-myself as a physio and my boyfriend as a teacher. It was a truely memorable experience and a very special place. Donation is from a fundraising meal we held recently. Anna and Andrew

Looking forward to seeing the great work that Grace House does.
