[p]UPDATE - I completed the run last Friday taking one minute longer than I aimed for and ending up 670m short of my 30km target. The weather was good for running with moderate temperatures and little wind. Thank you to everyone who has supported Compass by donating to this event.[/p][p]In the world before Coronavirus I was supposed to be running in The London Marathon on Sunday 26th April hoping to raise thousands of pounds to support Compass Counselling. I have been a passionate supporter of this service since I began my placement as a trainee counsellor at Compass in February 2015. Since then I have supported Compass as a trainee and qualified counsellor, fundraiser and trustee.[/p][p]This Friday, 8th May, I will be running a "2.6" course around Skelmersdale aiming to cover 30km in 2.6 hours. As each part of the course is completed we will upload a record of that bit of the run so that you can follow my progress. [/p][p]Since the start of the Coronavirus crisis the staff and volunteers at Compass have worked tirelessly to adapt the support we provide to the current situation. We need to raise funds to pay towards the additional equipment and services that are needed to provide counselling and support remotely to our clients. The money raised from the 2.6 Challenge will also be vital in helping to ensure that we will have the resources to continue providing face to face services as soon as we are able to open safely. We will be so grateful for whatever donation you can afford to contribute to our work.[/p][p]The counselling provided by Compass makes a life-changing difference to our clients and many of them would be unable to access this support anywhere else, either because other services would be too expensive or because the issues they are tackling are not suitable for the short term support that is available from NHS services.
