[p]#iSing4Peace is an initiative which aims to unite singers and musicians across the globe demonstrating cooperation and creativity across borders.[/p][p]It is the next step from a project which began in 2018 when musicians from 45 locations across the world joined together on the afternoon of Remembrance Sunday to play in harmony at 4pm CET under the banner #iPlay4Peace. This continued to grow in 2019. [/p][p]This year we are calling on singers as well as musicians to join together in harmony - demonstrating that cross border cooperation and creativity can overcome conflict.[/p][p]The project has received the backing of Royal Composer Paul Mealor, poet and lyricist Graeme Davies and singer/songwriter Fiona Kennedy who have given their time for free, together with the world class Royal National Scottish Orchestra and musicians Thoren Ferguson, Nils Elders and Callum MacColl, to create a brand-new piece of music ‘Stronger for the Storm.’ [/p][p]Music is a universal language which crosses borders and has been shown to carry significant benefits in improving community cohesion and mental health. [/p][p]We are calling on musicians to join in (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/stories/iSing4Peace)this global collaborative to help raise funds for four great charities - the British Red Cross (Disaster Fund), The Royal Commonwealth Ex Services League, Voluntary Service Aberdeen and University of Aberdeen Development Trust.[/p][p]You can support us by downloading the sheet music and being part of making music; in November downloading the music created by our global choir and orchestra; and / or engaging in some other innovative fundraising and sharing here. [/p][p]Thank you for helping us to bring people together to enjoy new music which is supporting others in the process![/p]
