My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]As you know I'm now a keen runner!??? [/p][p]So much so, I have been asked to run the London Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the Norrie Disease Foundation and have even been given my own race vest (This must make me a professional runner.... watch out Mo)!!!![/p][p]Anyway I am in a team running to raise money for our friend Ollie and other children like him who have very limited or more often no sight and in some cases they will also become deaf.[/p][p]We first met Ollie when our daughter Isobel and Ollie both started school 6 years ago. He is a fun loving kid who will still try everything from riding a bike, skiing and now horse riding.[/p][p]Ollie’s vision is already pretty minimal, and there are other things that are likely to impact on him later too BUT if you met him you would never in a million years know!! He is the smartest, funniest and most positive little dude going. Come rain or shine he cracks on with his life and is a total inspiration!! He is ridiculously quick witted and has the maturity of someone far older than his own 10 years!![/p][p]The Norrie Disease Foundation needs to raise £62,500 by February 2020 in order for the research project into preventing hearing loss for those affected by Norrie Disease to go ahead.[/p][p]Child health research is significantly underfunded, with only 5% of UK research funding spent on projects relating to child health. The Norrie Disease Foundation has formed a research partnership with Sparks and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity on its 2019 National Call, which supports research projects addressing some of the most difficult and hard to treat childhood diseases, and aim to improve diagnosis and develop more effective and kinder treatments for children who desperately need them.[/p][p]Anyway, I am running in aid of this and I (and the charity) would be very grateful for any donation, small or large, that you may be able to spare (it's worth it just for having to wear the vest, let alone running a half marathon in it too!!).[/p][p]Many thanks[/p][p]Iain[/p]
