My story

Thanks for visiting my page.

I am taking part in the 2011 L’etape du tour on 11th July to increase awareness of Wegener’s Granulomatosis and to raise donations for the work of the Wegener’s Trust, based at St Thomas' Hospital, London. http://wegeners.org.uk/

Wegener’s Granulomatosis is a very rare autoimmune disease that develops as a result of inflammation in the blood vessels and can affect many different organs. The cause of the condition is unknown. Our lives changed when my wife Anne was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis in September 2009. The Wegener’s Trust is focused on furthering understanding of the condition and researching potential new treatments. Your donation will prove particularly effective in that it will go straight to researchers working on Wegener’s Granulomatosis under the umbrella of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity; there are no admin costs for the Wegener’s Trust to bear.

L'etape du tour is a 109 km cycle event taking in some historic Alpine climbs of the Tour de France. Starting from Modane Valfréjus the course first goes over Col du Télégraph (1566m), then Col du Galibier (2556m). After the descent to Le Bourg d'Oisans the route goes uphill again for 14km (average gradient 7.9%) towards the finish, via 21 famous hairpin turns, at the mythic Alpe d'Huez (1850m). http://www.letapedutour.com/

By sponsoring me through Virgin Money Giving your donation will be quickly processed. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
