My story

[p]Hello, I'm Jenny and I've been the co-ordinator of FUM's Imeli sponsorship scheme for 15 years. I love doing it as it's so rewarding to see the difference that sponsorship can make to a poor or orphaned student's life chances.[/p][p]All four of the above students attended Imeli Primary School in Nzega. They each qualified for secondary school but their families could not afford for them to attend. One is an orphan due to parental AIDS. Their futures looked bleak.[/p][p]But thanks to sponsorship from FUM supporters they are all now in secondary school Year 2 and thriving, with bright futures. [/p][p]You can read more here about the background to Imeli School and the need some students have for sponsorship.[/p][p]Just £30 per annum will keep a similarly bright but poor student in secondary school for one year. £5 per month will sponsor two students for a year. Students remain at secondary school for four years, occasionally five if they reach the highest level.[/p][p]You can help by sponsoring one or more students yourself. Or maybe you can gift sponsorship to a friend or member of your family? You pay the £30 and they take the credit and the pride! It would make a wonderful Christmas present for them, and also to the poor Imeli student.[/p][p]To gift a year's schooling to yourself, a family member or friend please take the following three steps:[/p][p] * Send an email to imeli@fum.org.uk to contact Jenny and say how many pupils you wish to sponsor. Please also give Jenny your postal address for receiving the Gift Cards.[/p][p] * Pay the £30 for each student using the Donate button above, or by a direct payment via PayPal, bank transfer or cheque.[/p][p] * You will receive Gift Cards through the post to which you can add your personal greeting and give to your recipients.[/p][p]Payments can be made securely via the Donate button above and this also enables FUM to collect the Gift Aid from HMRC if you are eligible.[/p][p]Payment can also be made via PayPal, bank transfer or cheque. For details see www.fum.org.uk/donate [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]

What an excellent scheme. For such a relatively small sum (£30), what a difference it can make to these children by allowing them the chance of an education.
