My story

[p]We did it together. The Deca was completed on 21st June after 10 1/2 days of relentless hard work physically and mentally by me and the whole team. I couldn’t have done it without all the love and support in person and on line. Thanks for donating and following the journey x [/p][p][br][/p][p]So at 05:30 am on 11th June 2019 My challenge The Longest Day Deca will begin. So what is it? Its a continuous Deca Iron Triathlon completed continuously. That's all the swim, then the bike and finishing with the run in 10 days or less. The distances do make me worry as they are quite daunting. They are:-[/p][p]* 24 mile swim in a 25 metre pool - that's 1520 lengths[/p][p]* 1120 mile bike set on a 26 mile circuit on the Blackdown Hills. Its like riding the length of the country and half way back.[/p][p]* 262 mile run set on a 7 mile circuit - its like running from London to Newcastle. [/p][p]I am raising money for two great charities. Child Bereavement UK and Big Moose based in Cardiff. Both charities do some amazing things.[/p][p]I became connected with Child Bereavement UK a few years back when my wife and her two sisters ran the London Marathon for the charity in memory of their brother Jake who had died at just 18 years old. At the time of his death Child Bereavement UK did not exist. Thankfully today they are, and continue to provide essential support for families that have lost someone close to them. They really do change lives. [/p][p]I became aware of Big Moose about 3 years ago and was drawn to them for their work with disabled children and their work with the homeless. I was inspired by their Super Triathlon for the children, they have since organised three of these. Check out their videos (warning - you may shed a tear or two).[/p][p]You can follow my journey on [/p][p]Website - http://www.longestdaydeca.co.uk/index.html [/p][p]Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/longestdaydeca/[/p][p]Twitter - https://twitter.com/longestdaydeca [/p][p][br][/p]
