My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. As many of you know, securing a spot to run the London Marathon is not an easy task for a non-UK resident. As part of my dream/goal to run all 6 World Major marathons, I feel extremely lucky to have received a Gold Bond spot at the start line in London through a charity. I am so thankful to the team at Headway Surrey and am excited to represent them to the best of my ability both on the race course and through my fundraising efforts. [/p][p]Where is the money going?[/p][p]Headway Surrey's mission statement is to support people with brain injuries, their families and carers, and promote understanding of the implications of brain injury throughout Surrey. Headway Surrey will also provide support, for brain injuries from causes other than head injury (e.g. encephalitis, tumour, stroke, infection, etc.). As a registered Physiotherapist, I have seen first hand the impact of brain injury and have worked directly with affected patients during their rehabilitative journey. This experience has taught me the great importance of having reliable support systems available to those living with brain injuries and also to the people who love and care for them. [/p][p] * Brain injury can happen to anyone at anytime, anywhere. [/p][p] * More than 50% of all head injuries are caused by road traffic accidents. [/p][p] * 20,000 people in Surrey alone are suffering from a brain injury at any one time. [/p][p] * Every 90 seconds someone goes to hospital with a head injury. [/p][p]How to make donations: [/p][p]If you are interested and in a position to sponsor me, you can do so through Virgin Money Giving, where donations will be quickly processed and passed to Headway Surrey. [/p][p]For Canadian donors, please note that all donations made through Virgin Money Giving are in £ not $. If you prefer, you may instead choose to send donations directly to me through email transfer (jcarey32@hotmail.com) or cash. These donations will be tracked on this page as money "raised offline". [/p][p]I really appreciate all of your support and thank you for any donations. [/p][p]Sincerely, [/p][p]Janet[/p]
