My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]On Sunday the 28th of April 2019 I have decided to take on the incredible challenge and run the London Marathon. This will be in aid of the wonderful charity LAM action, who support women with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). LAM is a rare disorder that occurs almost exclusively in women, mainly affecting the lungs, where an abnormal type of cell builds up. This build up of LAM cells occur around the airways, around the blood vessels and the lymph vessels which results in cysts developing in the lungs making breathing inevitably difficult on a daily basis. [/p][p]LAMs disease is a very rare condition affecting only 240 women in the UK, on average only 7 in one million women will be diagnosed with LAMs disease. One of these incredible women is my mum, who was diagnosed a few years ago, therefore this cause is extra special to both me and my family. LAM Action provides support, information and encouragement to those with LAM and their families, helps educate health professionals about LAM and advance research into LAM.[/p][p]I have the extraordinary task next year in completing the 26.2 mile run, with the hope of raising as much money as possible for a wonderful charity. Various treatment options are currently available however there is no cure for LAM at the moment therefore every donation makes a huge difference in currently helping provide support but also helps develop future beneficial research for heath care professionals.[/p][p]Thank you for taking your time to read my story and thank you for your continued support. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Jemma x [/p]
