Team story

[p][span=font-size: small; text-align: left;]It is with much sadness that we inform you that Jennifer Green (nee Bunting) of Magagnosc & Goldhanger aged 62 passed away peacefully in the early hours of 22nd Dec 2012.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Jenny, dearly beloved daughter of Patricia, wife of Malcolm and much loved Mother of Nicolette, Joanna, Mark, Robert and Penny, and Grandmother of Thomas, Sophie, Jack, Matthieu, Josephine, Archie, William, Isolde, Oscar, Harry, Charles and Edward.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Jenny had struggled to resist the crippling disease known as MND/ALS/SLA/Lou Gehrig disease for some three and a half years. A disease that had slowly removed the ability for her to do the things she loved;  sailing, cycling, playing with her grandchildren and the things we all take for granted, walking, talking and eating. She has borne the disease with amazing strength and inner fortitude; she was an amazing person and will continue to be an inspiration to us all.[lt]br /[gt][/span][span=font-size: small; text-align: left;][lt]span style="font-size: x-small;"[gt][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=font-size: small; text-align: left;][lt]span[gt]Jenny dedicated herself to raising awareness of MND and funds to support research into the diseas [lt]span style="color: #444444; font-family: verdana; font-size: small; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;"[gt]so that there will be more advanced diagnosis and treatments and perhaps even a cure for future sufferers. [/span]All donations to MND in Jenny's memory will go direct to the Motor Neurone Disease Association[span=color: #444444; font-family: verdana; font-size: small; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;].[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][p]-*-[/p][p]Jenny's last personal message to those donating via this site:[/p][p]Hi, I am Jenny and I suffer from Motor Neurone Disease and I am trying to raise research money using my passion for sailing, outdoor activities and life in general. [/p] [p]Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.  Find out more at [url=http://www.mndassociation.org]www.mndassociation.org[/url]. [/p] [p]My first challenge was to[i][span=font-style: normal;] race my International Dragon in Regate Royales, Cannes, from 20-25 September 2010 and I am thrilled to say that not only did I achieve my goal of finishing the grueling six day series but we came 39th out of 60 boats and we raised £10,560.84 for MND research (equates to £11,666.36 by the time you take UK Gift Aid contributions into account).[/span][/i][/p] [p]My next challenge was a fundraising Charity Gala Dinner at the Yacht Club de Cannes on Friday 3rd December 2010 which raised over Euro 12,000. [/p] [p]My third challenge was to be my biggest and most difficult yet.  Starting on Monday 23 May and finishing a week later on bank-holiday Monday 30 May 2011 I travelled from Paris to London in my Tramper off-road mobility scooter.  You can find out more about this trip on my [url=http://sites.google.com/site/jennygreentributefund/events/paris-to-london-tramper-challenge]website[/url].  It was a journey of almost 400 km and was only possible with the fantastic support of my family and friends who supported me every inch of the way.[/p][p]Next up came the Santa Sprint around Maldon in Essex where we dressed up the Tramper as Rudolf and once again friends and family turned out to help us raise money - this time for Farleigh Hospice in Essex who have given me so much support through my illness.[/p][p]Right now just getting through each day is a huge challenge and I can't take on any more physical challenges but I do still want to raise as much money as I can to help ensure others never have to face this terrifying terminal illness.[/p] [p][i][span=font-style: normal;]Please support me and help me to raise as much money as possible for research into Motor Neurone Disease.[/span][/i][/p]
