My story

[p]My story [/p][p] Update[/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]Earlier this year I signed up to run both the Virgin London Marathon 2018 and the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2018 for Embrace CVOC (Child Victims Of Crime) for whom I am also privileged to be a voluntary Trustee. [/p][p]Some of you will know that I sadly lost my father when I was a youngster. He was killed on his way to work one morning by another driver who was later convicted. This event had a significant affect on our family and, as a teenager, I found it particularly challenging. The profound impact remains to this day.[/p][p]In the 1990's when it happenned, there were very few charities around to help young victims affected by crime. This is why I am so passionate about the fantastic work that Embrace CVOC does on a daily basis to support young victims and witnesses of crime during times of real need - their work has a lasting positive impact on those young people. Through my job as a police officer I see first hand the depth and breadth of young people who need the help and support routinely offered by Embrace CVOC.[/p][p]Please give generously, not because I am running over 26.2 and 13.1 miles (over 1000 annual training miles), but because every penny goes towards helping those young people who really need it.[/p][p]I will be carrying 'Alfie Bear' along both routes in memory of the late Chief Constable Alf Hitchcock who was a huge supporter, Trustee and fundraiser for the charity, and would almost certainly have run this for them.[/p][p]A heart felt thank you to you all for your generous support.[/p]
