My story

[p]I enjoyed sports, in particular, football and running, all my life. It therefore was a bit of a blow when, I snapped my cruciate ligament during a football match.[/p][p]After a year of operations, physiotherapy and not being able to work, the advice was not to play football and probably not to go back to work as a carpenter.[/p][p]I listened to both bits of advice; as a married man with a five-year-old son, I could not risk not being able to work.[/p][p]I slowly built up my fitness with road running over the ensuing years but had never run more than 10 miles.[/p][p]I became aware of the work that the Teenage Cancer Trust carried out when one of my son's friends was ill during his school years.[/p][p]I had wanted to do something to support the TCT, and was delighted when I was chosen to represent them at the 2018 London Marathon.[/p][p]This one is for my son’s friend and all those young people who have to deal with cancer at a time when most of us would have just been enjoying life.[/p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rqXus09h0_4?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][/vmgvideo][p][br][/p]
