My story

[p]On the 28th of August 2018 I will be setting off on the 12 day journey, cycling 1000miles through the British countryside. The reason for doing this......an incredible experience, but ultimately to raise money for a charity close to my heart, Pancreatic Cancer Action. [/p][p]As many of you reading this will know I lost my Dad 5 years ago to Pancreatic Cancer, he was only 66 and a fit and healthy man. Sadly the many medical people who saw my Dad over a 12 month period were unable to diagnose the disease until it was too late, despite the classic symptoms.[/p][p]We were fortunate to have 3 months with my Dad after his diagnosis and we saw a man so determined to fight it. Just 10 days before he passed away he sang in Liverpool Cathedral with Brymbo Choir. It was his strength, positivity and love for life that has inspired me to do this challenge. Everything he did was for others, whether it be friends, family or even strangers.[/p][p]Pancreatic Cancer Action is striving to get this terrible disease diagnosed earlier so people don’t have to go through the same thing like we did and many others. They are making the medical profession and general public more aware of the symptoms so they can get the treatment needed earlier and save lives. [/p][p]Four years ago I cycled from London to Paris having not ridden a bike in 12 years! This time I thought I’d go a little bit further![/p][p]The training has begun and the memory of the saddle pain has come back but as they say ‘no pain no gain’. Thank you for reading my story and your support in anticipation. [/p]
