My story

[p]Kayaking the Continent: two girls take on a journey of 4000km by tandem kayak through 13 countries, from England to the Black Sea.[/p][p]To see more about this challenge and read our blog, please visit our website by clicking here.[/p][p]Ever since her father passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2015, Kate has wanted to do a fundraising challenge for Pancreatic Cancer Action. From the three years he was ill, it was clear that this disease was not getting the attention or research it needed, and this still stands today. So instead of complaining, she decided to do something about it! Knowing that running a marathon was not going to combine well with her hatred of running, Kate went to her love of water and rivers. During her Canadian adventures, she found herself looking through an old Atlas in the house she was staying in. The Black Sea, standing out as the perfect end point to an epic journey through Europe, suddenly lit a match to the mad idea. After much research, her dream of getting across Europe via rivers and canals, while avoiding the upstream Rhine, was proved possible and her route was found. All was needed was a teammate crazy enough to join her…[/p][p]And that is where Anna comes in! Always keen for an adventure, especially one supporting such a valuable cause, it did not take much to convince Anna to join forces with Kate. The training has now commenced as Kate and Anna prepare to embark on this epic challenge towards the end of April 2018.[/p][p]Pancreatic Cancer Action[/p][p]The five per cent survival rate of pancreatic cancer has barely changed in nearly 50 years. Stamping out late diagnosis can change this. Pancreatic Cancer Action relies on the generosity of people like you who donate to fund research into early diagnosis, educate medical professionals, increase awareness and support patients.
