Team story

Hello ...

We, that's Mick Berwick, Olly Hicks and Patrick Winterton, are just back from a training weekend on Anglesey. An eye opener as far as how bad the sea conditions can get but all three are still on for the trip. We hope you'll check out our website www.kayaksonshetlandbus.com, track our progress (starting 16th July) and make a small donation via this page.

Thanks

£ 3.88 the Price of a Pint

We're urging you to donate just 1p per kilometre which works out at £3.88, the price of a city centre pint. To reach our target of £15000 we need to get just over 3888 people involved. We hope you'll agree that it is a small price to pay to support someone who either may save your life or someone who is fighting to save their own.

Following history to make a little bit of history

In tracking the route of the WW2 operation 'Shetland Bus' we're attempting to make the first kayak crossing between Shetland and Norway. In contrasted to the Norwegian resistance fighters who wanted bad weather to hide their presence on the North Sea we're after bright moons and a fair SW wind. In doing the crossing unsupported we will experience the solitude of the open ocean and be exposed to all its moods. Food will be cold, sleep a rare luxury and pressure sores inevitable. A large part of our motivation will come from your support and the fact that we are trying to raise funds for two very worthy charities.

Follow Our Progres:

You can follow our progress on www.kayaksonshetlandbus.com . It won't be quick!
