My story

[p]Wow the big day went well and we finished. Donations have reached £1800 with gift aid thanks to your generosity and I'm now trying to get closer to my target of £5,000 so please. please, keep donating. I'm so emotional and thankful for all your help and your belief in me that at 65 I can still run 42k. A huge thanks to you all for believing in me and I've just hit £1800 with gift aid but there's still so much more to do to reach my target of £5000 so please, please help LOOK - keep donating. Thank you all so much for supporting LOOK and me so generously for the London Marathon 2019. I need your help and have lost some big donors for 2020/21 due to Covid. So please help me again to support LOOK to take care of visually impaired young people, their carers and families - The London Marathon 2021 is my fifth one for LOOK having previously raised over £10,000 with your generous donations. Please help to take my marathon total to over 15k. Running together with my daughter Tamara for LOOK, makes it even more special. so proud of her and her fantastic effort training and raising £1500 with gift aid for LOOK. We achieved around 6 hours but finishing is paramount and helping LOOK. Achieving this means much harder training at 65, especially during Covid and with a strained calf recently. It's been a huge challenge and trainer Andy and Eric Fatah's encouragement has kept me going. The training is gruelling, several days to recover after an event with lots of stretching and massage from the wonderful Fusia. 19 September, was a crucial test to see if London was possible, Hampton Court Half Marathon. It was a struggle to finish in 3 hours with some run/walk but the calf was ok, thankfully. My final test before the big day was the Hackney Half last weekend finished 2:44 and the legs held up. So inspiring running with so many helping good causes. Fantastic feeling knowing that London was possible and that LOOK would benefit. The pain is all worth it to help improve the lives of visually impaired young people and to help give them a better chance in life and not be disadvantaged by their disability. My friend Nadia helps young people get into work and tells me how hard it is when they are institutionalised - well done Nadia. It was a wonderful day helping to support LOOK with all their wonderful work. So a huge thanks again for all your support. [/p]
