My story

[p]As a PE Teacher I recognise the importance of sport and understand first hand how it helps to achieve and maintain good physical and mental well-being, and I would like to tell you a bit about the positive impact sport has had and continues to have on my life. [/p][p]As a child, I lacked confidence and had low self-esteem which in turn heightened my anxiety levels. Feedback from my school reports repeatedly noted “lacks attention” or “in a world of her own”. I had a lot of energy which meant that I couldn’t concentrate or sit still long enough to learn! It became clear that the more I involved myself in sport, the stronger I became not only physically but mentally too. I was a swimmer at my local club and ran for my school and the county. My confidence grew, my anxiety levels improved, it helped me have a much more positive outlook on life.[/p][p]Now as an adult, I play hockey and netball for local teams and I still love to run. Because of my passion for sport and general physical fitness, along with the positive impact on well-being, I have decided this year to run the London Marathon![/p][p]I will be running on the 3rd October and will be raising money for a great charity, the Youth Sports Trust. The Trust recognises the significant decline in physical activity among our children today, and works to ensure that every child enjoys life changing benefits that comes with play and sport. It provides children with opportunities to take part in sport and take on leadership roles in and around 20,000 schools across the UK. [/p][p]For more information about the work they do, please visit www.youthsporttrust.org[/p][p]I am so passionate about sport and physical activity and the positive impact it has on mental and physical well-being, that I have challenged myself to run my furthest distance yet! And I would love to have your support.[/p][p]If you could please donate as much or as little as you can, every penny will help drive me to cross that finish line knowing the changes that your money can make to our youth today. [/p][p]Thank you for your support and donating to this amazing charity.[/p][p]Lucy[/p][p][br][/p]
