Team story

[p][span=color: #000000;]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to our charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]As some of you may know, Ali and I visited Uganda in the summer as part of the Welsh agricultural charity 'Dolen Ffermio' (farming link). We visited many primary schools in Ngora in the region of Teso in the North East. [/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]One of the schools we visited really made us want to get involved with the charity and fundraise for something that we felt was needed. We visited a primary school called Tilling Primary and we were warmly welcomed by the children, staff and head teacher Harriet. This particular school we felt, needed our support the most: only 22 out of the 828 pupils could afford to eat at school and the bore hole was so weak that it couldn't meet the demand for clean, safe drinking water. Some of these children had walked up to 5km to get to school. The basic amenities weren't there to provide for the pupils and we feel the need to do something about this. [/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]We are hoping to raise money for a water tank to be fitted on site at Tilling Primary so that not only the children will be hydrated, but also the staff that live on site and the local community will benefit from this too. [/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]Please look through our photos of the school and the children and donate generously whilst following our progress. We really appreciate it.[/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3766/9718987222_406e8c2f45_n.jpg" alt="_DSC1011" width="320" height="212" /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;]The children surrounding the pump to the current bore hole.[/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3734/9718982172_feeacba7a9_n.jpg" alt="_DSC1031" width="320" height="213" /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/101593463@N08/9718987222/][lt]br /[gt][/url][/span][span=color: #000000;]One of the P1 classes, this age group are equivalent to UK year ones. [/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2849/9715758135_1eb6687fa8_n.jpg" alt="_DSC1200" width="320" height="212" /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;][lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #000000;]One example of the other ways Dolen Ffermio have helped within the same region, this girl has been given a goat by the charity which has now had kids. This is giving her the opportunity to create a sustainable income. [/span][/p][p][lt]br /[gt][span=font-weight: normal;][lt]span style="color: #c0c0c0;"[gt][lt]span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: left;"[gt]All images © 2013, Alasdair Purkis, [/span][span=font-size: 13px; text-align: left;]all rights reserved.[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][span=margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 13px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; text-align: left;][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p]
