My story

[p]Pilton Community Health Project is Scotland's oldest community health project. Like many Edinburgh residents, I was shocked and saddened to hear that the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (made up of directors from Edinburgh Council and NHS Lothian) have cut funding for PCHP, putting the future of the project in jeopardy. PCHP work in a community which is one of the most deprived areas in Scotland. In the Forth area, 30% of children live in poverty. The closure of PCHP would leave a huge gap in the community, leaving many local people with no support at all. They provide an essential lifeline, as they play a key role as a community anchor, making resources, training and skills available across the community. Local GP surgeries rely on PCHP and the closure would have a knock on effect on the NHS. So I've decided to do what I can to help them raise vital funds and I'm running the full Edinburgh Marathon this May! I wouldn't describe myself as a runner so this will be a huge challenge for me so please donate as generously as you're able.[/p][p][br][/p][p]More Info About PCHP[/p][p]PCHP do a wide variety of work within the community, for example:[/p][p]· Food projects that tackle food-related issues such as food insecurity and food poverty by providing cooking programmes and training courses that also look at healthier eating knowledge and understanding.[/p][p]· Physical Activity projects which encourage people to become more physically active and live healthier lifestyles through providing local walking groups, raising awareness of local opportunities and by addressing the wider issues impacting on physical activity such as improving local green spaces.[/p][p]· Integration Projects that helps create more opportunities for friendships between different ethnic communities in North Edinburgh and promotes a sense of belonging through their Chat Cafe.[/p][p]· Affordable counselling services for young people and adults with professionally trained counsellors who are experienced in dealing with various emotional and mental health issues.[/p][p]· Free crèche service where children can play safely whilst parents are taking part in a meeting or group activity. There is a wide range of toys, equipment and activities for children to choose which provides a rich and stimulating experience.[/p][p]· Women Supporting Women project which provides a safe, confidential, flexible service for women who are experiencing isolation, anxiety, emotional or mental health issues, abuse, violence, relationship and family difficulties.[/p][p][br][/p][p]For further info please visit the following sites:[/p][p]Pilton Community Health Project website: www.pchp.org.uk[/p][p]The Save PCHP Campaign site: www.savepchp.com[/p][p]Watch the Save PCHP video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cji9gbLxe0M&feature=youtu.be[/p][p]Sign the petition to save PCHP here:[/p][p]https://www.change.org/p/city-of-edinburgh-council-nhslothian-save-pilton-community-health-project-savepchp[/p][p][br][/p][p]So please donate and help save PCHP![/p]

Gosh, better late than never. The Pilton Community Health Project is not only spiffy it is an essential community resource thanks to the marvellous workers and brilliant volunteers. North Edinburgh would be a lot poorer without PCHP.
