My story

[p] In August 2012 my wonderful sister Clare, only 48 years old, died from breast cancer.  As a huge football fan (and one of the first ladies ever to qualify as an FA referee) it was her wish that all donations at her funeral went to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation (SBRF).  This was not only because of the incredible work that the SBRF does to support the research required to improve the detection and treatment of cancer but also because of the enormous respect and admiration that Clare had for a local, sporting legend from her beloved North East.[/p][p]At the time I vowed that I would do something to further advance the work of SBRF and looked for something different that would capture people's imaginations and be worthy and testing challenge.   I also wanted to support the organisations who helped Clare and our family in her last days Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan. Eighteen months later I purchased a 2 man ocean rowing boat, found a partner as daft as me and put plans in place to row the 800 Kilometers from Scotland to Denmark; a journey that could take 8-12 days at the mercy of the North Sea.[/p][p]Additionally, as an ex-soldier, I also have sense of mission to never pass the chance to assist former colleagues in need and therefore also look to raise funds for SSAFA who offer practical, emotional and financial support to service personnel, veterans and their families.[/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]All of your kind donations will go directly to charities as the associated costs of this venture will be met by me and our generous sponsors.  [/span][/p][p]Your donations will be divided equally between the charities unless you instruct us otherwise in your donation message. [/p][p]Thank you for your kind and generous support.  It will make a difference.[/p]
