My story

[p]Beginning in December 2021 Tim and Simon will embark on a life-changing challenge to row the Atlantic and raise £100,000 for the charity to support positive mental health in teenagers. As part of the challenge they will take on the task of their lives, facing months of blisters, mental and physical preparation, seriously big waves and each other’s bad jokes![/p][p]Our Story[/p][p]Mental health impacts every one of us. We are not rowers, just two friends with careers in business and finance looking to break out of our comfort zones, to push our limits and raise some money in the process for a great charity. Our mental health will arguably be more important than our physical health over the two months or so of the row. It is likely the process will forever change our lives, and hopefully, positively help many teenagers change theirs as well from the money we raise.[/p][p]The Charity - stem4.org.uk [/p][p]We are delighted to be supporting stem4 who create digital self-support resources through a number of award winning downloadable apps, and provide face to face conferences for schools, parents and health professionals. Your support is really important to enable stem4 to continue to reach as many young people as possible to support early identification and intervention to build resilience in young people suffering with mental ill health.[/p][p] £100 can put the ‘Asking for Help’ booklet into the hands of 258 young people;[/p][p] £200 can run the website for 244 days to provide access to vital resources and self-support;[/p][p] £1,000 can maintain a potentially life-saving app to support 173,611 young people.[/p][p]In the current coronavirus world it is hard to know what is around the corner, but we both believe that preparation, teamwork, the ability to laugh at ourselves (#nakedrowing #poobucket) and both mental and physical resilience will get us across the Atlantic. Hopefully, we will even be speaking to each other at the end, after a shower and a large beer of course![/p][p]We've got a boat (a good start) and are in training but there is a long way to go... 3,000 nautical miles to be precise. The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge leaves in December 2021, but our journey starts now, and we will be sharing our progress through @TheMindcraft. Please support us, be part of our journey and help us raise money for stem4 along the way.[/p][p]Thank you,[/p][p]Tim & Simon[/p]
