My story

[p]Covid-19 is challenging every country in the world. [/p][p]None more so than in less developed countries. [/p][p]Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. It faces a huge challenge with the recent confirmation of Covid-19 cases in the country. Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, in Blanytre, lacks basic medical resources such as hand sanitiser, soap and PPE. The hospitals have nowhere to isolate patients and precious little equipment to monitor and treat patients. [/p][p] But now it faces another challenge. [/p][p]The nurses, who are paid less than £60 a month, cannot even afford to get to work. Social distancing has meant bus companies have increased bus fares from 20p to £2 per journey. [/p][p]Stoke Bishop Primary School in Bristol is attempting to 'Move a Mountain' in a challenge to help Dr Joe Langton get her incredible, dedicated nurses back to work. The money they raise will go directly to the hospital so the nurses can buy their bus fares and look after their patients. [/p][p]How? The Seven Summits Challenge is a real world mountaineering challenge to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. Only the toughest mountaineers have managed it. The fearless children of Stoke Bishop Primary School are working collaboratively to ‘virtually’ climb each one of these seven mountains at home on their own staircases during the school closures.[/p][p] Challenge lasts from Monday 13th April – Sunday 19th April.
