Team story

[p]Hi all,[/p][p]After completing the London Marathon two years ago with a totally ruined calve muscle, lots of hospital and doctor's appointments and a 6 month running break, I have given myself and my legs a two year marathon recovery period.  [/p][p]Rotterdam is OUR new challenge. This year Frankie is joininge me for his first ever marathon. Although he has totally embraced the marathon challenge he is really quite nervous. Almost impossible for him to imagine being able to run 42,195km. A little too much respect for the marathon distance if you ask me. I told him it was easy if you train well!!!!!![/p][p]I have hit the 50.000€ donation target in Germany over the last 5 years, which is something I am mega proud of. I will continue to run and continue to collect donations for heart children. Only possible with the help of my family, friends and many kind donors.[/p][p]Once again I ask you kindly to throw a fiver my way so that the British Heart Foundation can keep up their amazing work.[/p][p]Rhys' specical heart never lets him down, something we will be eternally grateful for. [lt]br /[gt]He is a smart kid and attends the local grammar school (many heart children have learning & concentration difficulties due to periods of lower oxygen and operations with heart/lung machine).[lt]br /[gt]He plays football in the local first team as a goal keeper and won the district indoor and outdoor championship with his team (competitive team sports are officially not recommended by cardiologists).[lt]br /[gt]He is an avid skier and loves the difficult black slopes (enough to give his mother a heart attack!!!)[lt]br /[gt]His latest hobby is golf and he has been chosen to play for the under 12 golf team (something he will always be able to play with no health risk, my caddy fee is 5€ an hour backdated!!!!)[lt]br /[gt]Thanks to all the help we received -  a great cardiologist, a talented heart surgeon, a local heart charity, a four week family rehab and contact to other families, Rhys leads a perfectly "normal" life. You would never know that he was born with a serious and complex congential heart defect. What more could we ask for?[/p][p]Running also keeps my fears at bay! It helps a little to keep me as calm as possible!!![/p][p]Thanks once again for your kind donation.[/p][p]Lots of love[/p][p]Gail & Frank[/p][p] [/p][p] [/p]
