My story

[p]My name is Simon Coates, and between 1st March 2021 and 31st October 2021 I will be undertaking the challenge to hike 2000 miles in aid of 16 charities whose work is close to my heart. I am aiming to raise at least £1000 for each of the charities I am supporting, and these funds will make a real difference in enabling the charities to continue their work and survive the extremely challenging times we find ourselves in.[/p][p]You can find out more about the challenge and keep track of how I am getting on on my website (www.charityhikes.org.uk), by joining the challenge Facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/ukcharityhikes) or by following me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/charityhikes).[/p][p]Newbury Spring Festival[/p][p]Newbury Spring Festival is a glorious fortnight of world class music in Newbury and its beautiful neighbouring villages, with up to 45 events in 18 venues, and where international symphony orchestras, ensembles and soloists rub shoulders with jazz legends, world music artists and the stars of tomorrow.[/p][p]The Festival was founded in 1979 to provide the opportunity to promote culture in the region by creating an annual festival accessible to all. It aims to bring excellent, new and innovative work from around the world to a variety of local venues adding to the economic and cultural wellbeing of the area, and to continue to create opportunities for young people, existing and new audiences to enjoy the arts.[/p][p]Now in its 42nd year, Newbury Spring Festival is funded almost entirely by private donation, charitable giving and corporate sponsorship and enjoys its reputation as one of the most important cultural events in the region, attracting audiences of several thousand each year from the immediate area and beyond.[/p][p]You can donate to this campaign in aid of Newbury Spring Festival between 25th February 2021 and 31st January 2022, and anything you can donate will give invaluable support to allow the charity to continue their work.[/p][p]If you would prefer to send a cheque to the charity, you can write to them at the following address - please do include a cover note telling them your donation is as a result of my hiking challenge:[/p][p]Newbury Spring Festival, 33/34 Cheap Street, Newbury, RG14 5DB[/p][p][br][/p]
