My story

Hi all,

Unfortunately we are still waiting for Herefordshire Carers Support to be registered with Virgin Money Giving, all paperwork has been submitted and it just takes a bit of time. Hopefully we can start accepting online donations around this coming week (as at 11/2/).

Currently as I'm waiting for HCS to be put online I am activating this page so we can start accepting donations. This means all monies donated here will go direct to the Adam Stansfield Foundation, I will offset the difference with cash donations once the event is totalised to give both charities an equivocal 50% each.

I'm Steve Niblett, sometime official photographer of Hereford United and I'm running the Virgin London Marathon on Apr 22nd 2012, a special mention to my running club Hereford Couriers for presenting me with the chance to run this event in Olympic year.

I have 2 nominated charities that I have chosen to fund raise for this event. They are the Adam Stansfield Foundation and the Herefordshire Carers Support charities.

For those who are Hereford United fans will know of Adam Stansfield, Hereford's centre forward for 2004-5 and 2005-6 seasons and was a integral member of the Promotion squad. Sadly Adam died nearly 2 years ago of bowel cancer aged just 29 leaving Marie and 3 children behind. Adam's family have set up the foundation to perpetuate his memory and support local under 16's football teams. It's poignant for me as I had bowel cancer at 25 but have been lucky to have a 2nd chance.

The second charity is the Herefordshire Carers Support charity based in Canal Road Hereford. There's around 30,000 unpaid carers in Herefordshire and they need support, and that is just what this charity does. Providing advice, practical help, equipment, social clubs for the younger carers are just a few ways they contribute to and support the local community. A really admirable cause.

It'll be my 3rd London Marathon after competing in the 2000 & 2001 events and my 7th marathon overall. I have had a plague of injuries over the years but have shed quite a few pounds to give me a fighting chance of getting round in one piece. So, please support these causes by sponsoring me, and dont forget the charities will get an extra 25% of your donation if you gift aid.

All the best - nibbo
