My story

[p]Hurrah, incredibly I managed to complete the run against a lot of adversity, 10 days of flu just before tearing my calf muscles 7 miles in on a 20 mile run, 5 weeks of RICE (runners term!), supplements, physio, anxiety, then to top it all, a throat and ear infection just 7 days before the run. I decided to definitely run on the Friday, got 800m into the race and realised I was going to struggle with no running for 7 weeks, and I really really did. I pulled up after 13 slow tough miles and followed up with an even slower 13 miles. Nevertheless, all done and dusted and tons raised so far. The page doesn't close for another couple of months. Thanks to all who have donated (including a generous donation from Kevin M**rh**se). For all people who I don't even know and you've given generously, you've been great.[/p][p]I'll be meeting with my charities in a while to see how they are going to spend the money. I reckon a bit of it should be on cakes, they are a necessity in life! So, reports to follow - and one last[/p][lt]h1[gt]T H A N K  Y O U[lt]/h1[gt][p] [/p][p]________________________________________________________________[/p][p]I'm Steve Niblett, sometime official photographer of Hereford United and I'm running the Virgin London Marathon on Apr 22nd 2012, a special mention to my running club Hereford Couriers for presenting me with the chance to run this event in Olympic year.[/p][p]I have 2 nominated charities that I have chosen to fund raise for this event. They are the Adam Stansfield Foundation and the Herefordshire Carers Support charities.[/p][p]For those who are Hereford United fans will know of Adam Stansfield, Hereford's centre forward for 2004-5 and 2005-6 seasons and was a integral member of the Promotion squad. Sadly Adam died nearly 2 years ago of bowel cancer aged just 29 leaving Marie and 3 children behind. Adam's family have set up the foundation to perpetuate his memory and support local under 16's football teams. It's poignant for me as I had bowel cancer at 25 but have been lucky to have a 2nd chance.[/p][p]The second charity is the Herefordshire Carers Support charity based in Canal Road Hereford. There's around 30,000 unpaid carers in Herefordshire and they need support, and that is just what this charity does. Providing advice, practical help, equipment, social clubs for the younger carers are just a few ways they contribute to and support the local community. A really admirable cause.[/p][p]It'll be my 3rd London Marathon after competing in the 2000 & 2001 events and my 7th marathon overall. I have had a plague of injuries over the years but have shed quite a few pounds to give me a fighting chance of getting round in one piece. So, please support these causes by sponsoring me, and dont forget the charities will get an extra 25% of your donation if you gift aid.[/p][p]All the best - nibbo[/p]
