Team story

[p]Darren Taylor,a Firefighter with Oxfordshire Fire And Rescue, and Alex Flynn,10 Million Metre's and Adventurer with Parkinson's disease, are aiming to take part in the inaugral Pacific Rowing Race 2014.[/p][p]The event is being organised by New Ocean Wave (www.newoceanwave.com) ,setting off from Monterey Bay,California, to Honolulu,Hawaii,a distance of 2,400 miles.[/p][p]We are entering this race to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease and to raise vital finance for research for a cure through The Cure Parkinson's trust, and also for the Firefighters Charity.[/p][p]In 2008 Alex was diagnosed with the onset of Idiopathic Parkinson's disease.Since then he has created his own campaign, 10 million metre's ,to help put Parkinson's into the public eye and raise money through various endurance (often Ultra endurance) events. You can see how he has done this at www.alexflynn.co.uk [/p][p]Together,we will take on whatever nature decides to throw at us during this epic voyage, using muscle power alone. It will undoubtedly push us to the limits of what our bodies can take, and our minds can cope with.We will only have ourselves to blame if we do not realise our full potential.[/p][p]We will be the first ever British pair to row this course, and Alex will also become the first ever person to do so with PD.[/p][p]Please help support us,not just with donations through this page, but also by following our progress up to and throughout the duration of the race. Our website will soon be finished, and we will give the site address through this page.We will let you know how we are doing, and knowing that you are interested in our campaign will give us a huge amount of moral support. We have set up a Facebook page named "Row The Pacific 2014",so you can start right now!!It will also help us as we approach potential sponsors,so you will be helping in more ways than one.[/p][p]Thank You[/p][p]Alex and Darren[/p]
