My story

[p][b][u]BOWEL CANCER WALK FOR PATRICK, 3 - 5 MAY 2018, PEMBROKESHIRE COAST[/u][/b][/p][p][b][u]BOWEL CANCER UK & VELINDRE CANCER CENTRE, CARDIFF[/u][/b][/p][p]In June 2017, our close friend and colleague, Patrick Wymer, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. The disease is incurable and has spread beyond his bowel and into his liver and lungs. Patrick’s life expectancy is limited with only around 10% of stage 4 bowel cancer patients surviving for more than 5 years after diagnosis. [/p][p]Patrick, as you know has had a successful retail property career spanning more than 30 years, most notably working at Laura Ashley and for the last 12 years with Primark. [/p][p]Typically, Patrick has been amazingly positive in the way he has dealt with his cancer. Following major surgery last summer, he completed an initial 8 cycles of chemotherapy just before Christmas. He is now taking part in a clinical trial for a new drug, which although not a cure, may prolong the time until he needs further chemo and enhance his quality of life. [/p][p]Patrick has become increasingly involved in the bowel cancer world through his blog (link below) and social media. He has spoken at cancer events at the Welsh Assembly and Cardiff University and has taken part in other cancer fundraising initiatives. [/p][p][url=http://www.bowelcancerman.wordpress.com]www.bowelcancerman.wordpress.com[/url][/p][p]On May 3rd 2018, Chris Thomas, Stephen Proudley, Ian Whelan, Tom Meager, David Ives, Martin Rugg & Charles Penruddock will be walking 60 miles in 3 days along the Pembrokeshire Coast. [/p][p]This has been a very difficult time for Patrick, his family and his friends, but we are determined to raise awareness of bowel cancer and to raise much needed funds for two fantastic charities. [b]Bowel Cancer UK [/b]is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity and [b]Velindre Cancer Centre [/b]in Cardiff is where Patrick has been treated. Both organisations are extremely important to Patrick.[/p][p]The itinerary is as follows:[/p][p]Day 1: A 24 mile walk from Marloes Sands to Solva[/p][p]Day 2: A 22 mile walk from Solva to Porthgain[/p][p]Day 3: A 14 mile walk Porthgain to Strumble Head[/p][p]Any donation you can make to this brilliant cause would be hugely appreciated.
