My story

[p]To celebrate our 5th Anniversary and raising £150,000+ for good causes, Welsh Women Walking are proud to be dedicating this event on Sunday 11th May towards raising funds for The Aloud Charity. [/p][p]We will be climbing Pen y Fan in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Standing at 886 metres above sea level this is a challenging walk but, with spectacular views from the top, the effort will certainly be worth it![/p][p]Join us and members of Only Men, Boys and Kids Aloud on our trip to the summit with the promise of a celebratory song or two at the top![/p][p]Everyone is welcome, though we ask that under 16s are accompanied by a responsible adult. Please ensure appropriate clothing and footwear are worn for your own safety and comfort and bring sufficient drinking water. A high turn-out is expected so car sharing is recommended to reduce the risk of congestion at Pen Y Fan. An alternative is to arrive at Pizza Hut, Cyfarthfa Retail Park, Swansea Rd, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 1HY by 9.15am to share cars to the start point.[/p][p]To sign up simply donate the £10.00 registration fee (by pressing Donate Now to the right of the screen) and then join us for the walk which will start from the Pont ar Daf Car Park (grid reference SN988199) at 10.00 am.[/p][p]We are very grateful to the following: Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team who have generously pledged their support to this charitable event and will be present to provide invaluable help and expertise, Arts and Business Cymru for their professional and expert involvement with this event and National Trust who own and manage the land the event is taking place on.[/p][p]"Please note that Welsh Women Walking cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage caused on the walk or on the journey to and from the walking venue, however caused. Hill walking and outdoor activities in general can be dangerous pastimes and we have no control over the condition of the terrain to be walked on. Each participant voluntarily assumes the risk and accepts responsibility for their own actions and involvement. Each participant should therefore familiarise themselves with navigation and walking techniques suitable for the standard of walk and be suitably equipped to ensure their own safety at all times. Thank you".[/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for signing up![/p]
