My story

[p]Thank you so much for visiting my page.I am continuing to support three very special charities and causes: Team Margot, Anthony Nolan and Retrak.[/p][p]I am building on the awesomeness from 2016 & 2017 so in 2018 I take on a massive challenge:[/p][p]1000 miles. I'm a ****, I know.[/p][p]WTAF? It began relatively small with the Prudential Ride London 2018 - 100 actual miles is where it started. But, as with everything I do, 100 miles isn't enough.[/p][p]When was the last time I rode a bike? When I was 12 probably.[/p][p]Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event for all involved. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 finishes on The Mall in central London, shortly before 150 professional cyclists race in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic on a similar route.[/p][p]If you would like to support me and these amazing causes, and would like to donate by text message, please Text - CHRA50 £10 and send to to 70070. [/p][p]My calendar is now pretty full on (and that’s without fitting in a “cycle to work”):[/p][p]11th March – 123km[/p][p]29th April – 100km[/p][p]13th May – 115km[/p][p]June – Taking the month off so double beasting in July to make up for it.[/p][p]15th July – 128km[/p][p]29th July – 161km[/p][p]15th & 16th September – 322km[/p][p]23rd September – 75km[/p][p]30th September – 88.5km[/p][p]7th October – 145km[/p][p][br][/p][p]In 2016, to raise money and awareness, I did a 15,000ft Skydive (I hate heights and flying) on 30th July 2016 which was Live Your Life Day, a 10k obstacle race (Wolf Run), took part in the 5 mile Beerathon and volunteered for 10 days in Uganda. I then completed the Manchester Half Marathon on 16th October.[br]In September 2016, I travelled to Kampala in Uganda to volunteer as part of the #ConnectingHRAfrica Team to help street children have a chance at having a childhood. I, along with 9 other amazing people, delivered training and support to local staff using our People and Learning and Development knowledge to aid them in positively impacting these children's lives. You can read more about why applied to volunteer in Africa over on my blog, Pubdonna.com, here - ****/xn7IIYNJvT[br][/p][p]In 2017, I completed 2 half marathons before a knee injury forced me to pull out of the last half and full marathon. It bothers me that I wasn't able to finish what I started so in 2018 a different, BIGGER challenge to make up for it.[/p][p]Update: Before I start my epic cycling challenge, I have one more half marathon. On 15th October, I was in ALL of the pain ( I hadn't ran since May when my knees gave out) but I DID finish the Great Birmingham Run - 13.1 miles for Team Margot and Anthony Nolan. [/p][p]About Retrak[br][/p][p]Through its work Retrak enables street children in Africa to have a real alternative to life on the street. With projects in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya providing healthcare, refuge and education, Retrak is committed to encouraging street children to realise their potential and discover their worth.[/p][p]About Anthony Nolan[/p][p]Anthony Nolan is a pioneering charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Every day, we use our register to match remarkable donors willing to donate their blood stem cells to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants. Your donation will help to fund our lifesaving work.Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia. Currently only 60% of transplant recipients receive the best possible match. With your help, we can raise more money, provide more transplants and save more lives.[/p][p]About Team Margot[/p][p]Team Margot campaigns for more potential bone marrow/stem cell donors to join the register – especially people with a mixed genealogy. As a grant giving Foundation, they also support people & projects close to their hearts – more specifically charities & research related to bone marrow/stem cell transplants & those caring for child cancer patients. Everyone at Team Margot is a volunteer. Every penny raised for the Foundation will go to the wonderful people & causes they support.Thank you for yours.[/p][p]Big loves[/p][p]Dxx[/p][p]To text donate, please send this message- CHRA50 £10 to 70070.Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities.Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]I really appreciate all of your support. Thank you for your donations X[/p][p][br][/p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HrxbXNihLGw?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][/vmgvideo]
