Team story

[p][/p][p]1 August[/p][p]Farewell dearest Rosie - we have been so lucky to have known you - so inspirational and brave.  This horrid cancer has taken you away too soon - you faced it with such courage and bore the pain so well.[/p][p]This incredibly generous amount raised will make a difference, not for Rosie perhaps, but others will benefit from extra research and personalised treatment.[/p][p]With love and many thanks[/p][p]Gay and the Rambling4Rosie team[/p][p][/p][p]We did it!  Mike too joined us for all the 3 Peaks – Ingleborough, Pen y ghent, Whernside.  An Amazing walk in such beautiful countryside and on a sunny day - challenging in places yes, with sharp ascents, descents and uneven terrain, with a total climb higher than Ben Nevis, but nothing like the challenges and pain that Rosie faces daily. [/p] [p]We have been overawed by the huge amount of support and encouragement we have received from family and friends and to have raised such a fantastic amount so far. We are hugely grateful.[/p] [p]With love and very many thanks[/p] [p]Gay, Rosie, Liz, Diya and Mike[/p][p][/p][p]Wow just 4 days to go until we tackle our challenge – weather is looking a lot cooler – which is good news, much as we’ve loved that summer heat, it wasn’t great for training.  Kit is coming together, lots of plaster for me as my newish boots are still rubbing the ankle, along with snacks, bars and jelly babies![/p] [p]Your generosity has been absolutely incredible. The amount means it can go towards a specific project. Rosie has chosen the Pancreatic Cancer’s future leaders fund where PhD students work solely on pancreatic cancer research which attracts new research talent and retains expertise within the field; the students receive awards for researching new treatments or personalised medicines.[/p] [p]With love and so many thanks[/p] [p]Gay, Liz, Rosie, Diya and Mike[/p][p][/p][p][lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4137/35600467261_79d17a0539_h.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="299" /[gt] [lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4021/35600454511_b085eaa082_h.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="183" /[gt] [lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4102/34922195103_e6da25bf72_h.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="103" /[gt][/p][p][/p][p]With a month to go Liz has been clocking up the miles in the beautiful countryside around her Dorset home; Mike and I have been quite surprised at how beautiful it is around us in Hertfordshire – challenged to find hills but enjoying the Icknield Way, John Bunyon Way and the wonderfully named Sharpenhoe Clappers.  My daughter Rosie and uni friends are surfacing from 3[sup]rd[/sup] year exams and balls so trust will be vertical soon.[/p] [p]Our dearest friend Rosie continues to be brave and upbeat and got away to Chatsworth for the inaugural flower show, though seriously challenged by pain and nausea and having to spend much time in bed.  [/p] [p]With our thanks to you[/p] [p]Gay, Liz, Rosie, Rachel, Diya & Mike[/p][p][/p][p][lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4077/35691802316_6cfca6d706_h.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="103" /[gt] [lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4281/34890396814_08c2bf2019_k.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="103" /[gt] [lt]img src="http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4003/34922159203_64565a8ee2_z.jpg" alt="" width="137" height="106" /[gt][/p][p][/p][p]Our dearest friend Rosie has pancreatic cancer - a disease which has very few treatments and a shocking 5% of people survive for 5 years or more – a rate that has barely improved for the past 40 years.  Despite this, over the last decade only a woeful 1% of total UK cancer research funding is dedicated to the disease.[/p] [p]Rosie now has stage 4 cancer – she has experienced the whole gamut of horrors and her treatment often leaves her in such pain and nauseous that she stays in bed. With her usual humour and bloody mindedness though she is getting on with life for her family – her courage is awesome.[/p] [p]I have signed up to walk the Yorkshire 3 peaks Challenge, 24.5 miles in under 12 hours on 8 July in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK – to help research for new treatments and raise awareness for early detection. [/p][p]My daughter Rosie, two of her uni friends Diya and Rachel, Liz, my sister-in-law will take up the challenge with me and walk the 3 peaks. Mike with his dodgy knees is going to tackle 2 of the peaks –[/p] [p]If you would like to support us with a donation, any contribution will be much appreciated and greatly received.[/p] [p]Many thanks[/p][p][/p][p]Gay[/p][p][lt]img src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/XoRCO2_2kgyiR-SQ9mKzpHvmO_Y8IUBjAJ1VB7FgJDNk3vGZ1Oh_a_FqsKt7flTHK5LRwkW3zUUJSODmZ8f1gQRcdvWBqVEbsyTViV77gZJQtx53Iqes8uMpEXHtdV6RnJHwE3xU2gkv_VUeWdnwgdzFdiT_b9urdTpdM6YnedDsiYkzgI15H-61UAGz20kttbOA6f0XUHlTxCSawhahYHu5noYOpE3t2ZJr730a2nkBNS93d-AY7UVmOF1hJAcHqJul13ZPUi9Ab10oItVWoyioAblCYzqs-2VMMsjoujRQa2VaWNxjzxacpi3Z22NYHqq6YDpLBb-9f14rzXIvZk1FxdAwThhNSkDZMwN60s47nPcL5Pyv3KzuD9WQIbyer5hUXHOKxqzAK46AABOR-2aU9E3fRCc4G1Nif1SSwdcmuJLSbwOyikgDFZIUmUzOMnWK-vxCScnjBOJoinISHn3T7zFL0BHToqwcA3E8zYB4_4jvVBcyqCKHpCy9XwEZNDxiIyTEGVFS4GGcq9EvLjXpQfZgP1gAdl5w7NhHotDUJBxo0sI_mEfGW-jqp0MJuLLqq_bXKsowg_HP5TIEjf1E4qFz3VvvKRC9NtkypEyvoDdPjSITaaGLkc-G9GAPUHit7alIpP_CwEAPffX5f5oTNwfA6p1jZSJVENSLdg8hzQ=w1104-h845-no" alt="" width="250" height="191" /[gt][/p][p][/p][p][lt]img src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/VcxYbKzs4itTd9DZEbn46iOh6dLh2tRJlnskpT-Hb8jn-77ZnoJ22is2PENeO-xy2tUBA4MxapTzQmv09Dl47bHNayLO61QGzZ_HVB7v0OVRsEcPkTX6snGNuryMnE3J3xTz_VQ5hYXRWMn7qO0gZ3dW0FpNVsD8s3hKuxVFXk4Q5r-Sq7xrH4L72pLbHucWZS4CjdOmilreBsPhenkYY-kuq0mHEqx74PyhI4Vp8cxG3uPrAlBHv6hhrLBrAIjdW6L-38BgxzFKKjmY_ez59QvYEuaPg_AnVIYq02DfdLuDNBUjfhATJHAJsSRDgbrs7QV0AvcCQmanVLlXkHPwvu8A2QFgT9DNE45OKLvrBRmQwuELg41-D6SBTb2IH2cjETajwnwXH7qezsCNGqaJ9v9bYSiv1dHhiCPiJ945GAcQfQ5b0-UQDTt7WG6518vayZM0xmPg7tOxds_fnLloenaNGZQZi1OyR2m4ivpyIo_kynve9v-Ia5Tv5iyFdwtcwEBtibchFGcbpIaczdEi72Dl6DbzWUtcgoaqGY-c04cr2_krE7kSLsRnKbtA1byBTgZAqT-Lk9kPNthSEqOq4wJL0fqeubh6Ci6zs30mXxGfrxGYR-WS-4kdBJi9v-NSye4LN4ctu0oaKFunWUZQSvbXbBrRXHPvaSKlowd61vgd2A=w1099-h666-no" alt="" width="250" height="152" /[gt][/p][p][lt]img src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/LYJ23uxj9420HtL3nRDflADM8UrRgxCCHNo14UhJlHIhE7J95tfZfit_HKyy6XrlhNI0iUO5OhO0j530J6ke5GrA2N_ULdJQwY8rGFtQH67mtukr8Npcj4CCDbfxgy1uvy-gIXMfFkx10mI76i06y2Ad7vgYgGfKNy-YWvl65WbJlqGY4C20DdHojNOkQ4D8aa9OIUkxzZgNUJAQYBeiAwrF-jfBGqWMlCNYpPTD6a_uB2wdVm8Ww4n1jKTi-2wVXxhGIHCQRUiheOHbti1FxVW1P-oA5BNjtUaTo7EuOi_sL8GgtdgQzEzHq_nSd_eXjxV_t_geqrwE6LsnRs23PHgwbtbtrPtCuZL4YtTRdg3FH8QswAxWi4frRDqbiGqZPIKprjOWL8iU39rGf-2-YGBy_GEbB36YbEeoMatuROYWv4Y-NZNuNOM58NmzWrezpbgBQPVord6ia1QxYtIe4coRuqPs30AYvhjcV_jwCfkV3yvTSgDYhGKIBpQ13IsFmyw1_9TC2acI_hLq44bwqJbnWhz39ZSOmUFgO1IM51OmCl9t93wfsBAg3jFku2ebElQHUWLVqbeo1FRg-Y_MRuDxl244-jpyY6OiR1fMOnXjteyUOA5PJX43g3kg-2_ibAPw6PjAd_b5Iyz40Pidl2NKCmsAB6yifP2afTxpQTvKJA=w1137-h817-no" alt="" width="250" height="180" /[gt][/p][p][lt]img src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/A13jcNulZMS8UOp4SyRdIw8BxjrqcjMwOzP-tLlJ8jtyAvj5_NHeRrKajE51fc1JkETSlkxxOcdVpfC_eh3nkQo9Q5bNKvX1BqomTTwG1yv3sA8grIoQjIayIiwQUOPHpFCFkoYYrLuevtKWchwli477qFcqx1sbPAnRFrAyZ3VSuSPWrfiH1YYJpc7XEuBjxvHNIi2cF-5Jv-jpRcL-mSsANZVeFdZz4roKCbyIT4FUHo1HdYB4Wn4q5Q6ZzzuybyEVcmA5GA2kvgFoO1Q9AdVu0-c6wSgMFYD2pFBbNU5T-Yq8fy0QkMdxJbveJjDmhlwuel5ueLyvsk8CWvJwQcBO9R5eijTBO5OAwH-pSMK_syTDFS7wUCUdecTC_VMV8r1Dw7b1gh1xlxmlUyRiywHnJIag34g0LfmoFDgVXHqbPNp675UVPy3DCGF4IzMA4P_gGHOX-MocR1UFIJcCXnSflzmUeo2i1kVVklE9DE9STll6EPf5UIAR0lTjhh1qhoz-UHoQOAR1GJhPLo_4y3UVIUbfkJK5uKhiCxvF7P9wYq5ArRs6WQyzGFh90h6tTtU7mUwsBWZOza3Pj1MAU1jDUOUzQXIpK_Ch6mD0DrUMEuK9i8kl4djUFiBW0-5Ix2ffHPpAMeDqPRcK3nHuHl6MnwPhPkryKbkI__szRKsHQg=w1147-h845-no" alt="" width="250" height="184" /[gt][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities.
