Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. [/p][p]My team and I are undertaking the 3 peaks challenge in July 2012.[/p][p]The three peaks challenge is both physically and mentally demanding requiring months of intense training and focus covering the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales, all in 24 hours![/p][p]We begin our adventure (24 hours of hell) at 0700 on saturday 7th July at  the foot of Ben Nevis and by 0659 on Sunday 8th July - failure is not an option - we will be celebrating at the foot of Snowdon with a well earned cup of tea![/p][p]We will be in changeable weather, hostile environments and at the mercy of the elements and the traffic to complete this, we will be hungry, tired, thirsty, probably in some pain and cannot wait!![/p][p]Why are we putting ourselves through this? Quite simlpy for Lola.[/p][lt]div[gt]Lola was rushed to St.Georges hospital inTooting with pneumonia in February 2011,where she was ventilated to help her recovery.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]After an MRI scan a tumour was detected, this unfortunately was inoperable but it was hopeful that with 18 months of intense chemotherapy Lola would make a full recovery.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Lola endured two different types of chemotherapy which made her extremely ill, resulting in more stays in PICU and many more times on a ventilator. A further scan revealed no reduction in the tumour and the decision was made to stop the treatment.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Lola came home in August and enjoyed her time with parents Jules and Paul. She constantly amazed us all, never complaining and always a smile for her Grandparents and the many visitors she had.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Lola had a lovely christmas and made all our christmas very special, she then it seemed decided it was her time to go and passed away peacefully at home with her family aged just 4 and a half.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]We are raising money for the charities that made so very much of a difference to Lola and her family. These charities and the loving caring people involved with them made a difficult and tragic situation manageable without them, it would have been impossible.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts and ask you to support:[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt][lt]div[gt]Brain Tumour UK[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]--------------------[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Brain Tumour UK is the leading caring charity committed to fighting brain tumours by providing support, funding, research and raising awareness[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Ronald Macdonald House Charities[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]----------------------------------------[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Ronald Macdonald House Charities is an independent charity which provides free "home from home" accomodation at hospitals accross the UK enabling families to stay close to their sick child[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Chase Hospice Care for Children[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]-------------------------------------[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Shooting Star Chase, your local childrens hospice service,a charity caring for families with a child or teenager with a life limiting condition, supporting families living in western London,Surrey and west sussex[lt]/div[gt][lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt][lt]div[gt]Please help by sponsoring us to raise as much money as possible in memory of "Our Lola...the brightest little star in the sky"[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]With Many Thanks[lt]/div[gt][lt]div[gt]Mark and the Team.[lt]/div[gt][lt]/div[gt][p][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
