My story

[p]Most people will know me as a runner, & I don’t even own a bike, but I’m taking on the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100. Why the heck am I riding a bike for 100 miles?[/p][p]I’m doing it to raise money for Bloodwise & I’m asking for you to please make a donation.[/p][p]If you find yourself saying it’s only 100 miles On yer bike.... then read on. [/p][p]Having previously completed the London Marathon & the Serpentine 2 mile Swim I’ve Completed 2 parts of the London Classics Challenge.[/p][p]Taking on this ride was the third instalment of the ‘triathlon’ that makes up the London Classics & was the conclusion of an epic journey that’s taken me out of my comfort zone of just running & really pushed me to my limits to complete that swim. I predicted that finishing this ride would be even harder & I wasn’t wrong. Battling saddle soreness, delays, & the gruelling distance took everything I had but I bloody did it!![/p][p]So although this page is set up for the 2019 Ride 100 I’d hope you can see there’s more to it than this ride & it’s a combination of the 3 events I’m asking you to sponsor me for. Please dig deep, donate what you can, & I’ll dig deep to finish this challenge to bring home the bling.[/p][p]Why am I supporting Bloodwise?[/p][p]I never met my father in law Rob. Sadly he was taken by non Hodgkins Lymphoma when my wife was only 15 years old. He never got to see her in her wedding dress or meet his grandchild.[/p][p]Then in 2015 I lost a good colleague Roger to Leukaemia & ran the London Marathon in his memory for Bloodwise.[/p][p]It’s because of these two things that Bloodwise is close to me & my family. My mother in law supports Bloodwise annually at the Great North Run & we will continue to support this great cause that deals with diseases that affects so many lives.[/p][p]Please smash that donate button now & give what you can to help me raise £400 & please share this page far & wide.[/p]

Well done Richard, a truly awesome achievement, to complete the triple challenge. I noticed a few Bloodwise jerseys last weekend, but hadn’t realised the rebranding from Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Thanks for the awareness. Well done again.

Well done Richard. Smashing them out as always. Roger and your father in law would be very proud of your dedication to the cause. It is a very deserving charity that is often overlooked by other cancer charities but works just as hard to find a cure.
