[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]After sucessfully completing The Great North Run 3 years ago I've been gagging to take on all 26.2miles of the Virgin London Marathon as the next challenge. I came close in 2010 when I got a place but race day fell too close to my daughters due date so I had to sit it out, then in 2011 I didn't secure a place. I've wanted to do this before I'm the dreaded 30 so that makes 2012 my final chance, plus its an Olympic year it would be rude not too. So I'm going to run so which charity to go for? Well I wanted to run for a cause that means something to my family & I. My daughter was born with a coloboma to both eyes and we have recently learned she will need glasses. We hope this does not effect her vision too much, however we are still unsure of the extent of visual impairment this will mean. Because of this I have chosen to run the London Marathon 2012 in support of "Visually Impaired Children Taking Action (VICTA)" this great charity can provide grants to families with a visually impaired child to help buy essential equipment for them to allow them to lead as normal life as possible, obtaining a proper education etc. Without this additional support visually impaired kids will struggle to keep up with sighted children so it is essential. Please hover your cursor over their logo to the left to learn more about them or visit their offical site http://www.victa.org.uk/[/p][p]I'm glad to say that I was accepted on Team VICTA and I have pledged to raise as much money as I can for them.[/p][p]I will be running hundreds miles in training, in the cold, in the wet, in the dark and maybe even in the snow. I struggle with asthma & winter running is extra hard for me but I will put myself through all that for such a great cause.[/p][p]This is where you can help. I know money is tight but please please support VICTA by sponsoring me whatever you can afford to and some blind and visually impaired kids get a better shot at life. Not only will you be supporting VICTA but you will be behind me, willing me to the finish line. I'm not just going to coast it either I'm training hard to finish in 3:30 - 4:00 hours[/p][p]If you don't mind sharing a link to this page on your Facebook or Twitter please do so.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
