[p]I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2013 for the Vale of Aylesbury Athletics Club. I am under no obligation to hit a certain target for charity so that I can run as I am running as an athlete from a club, however I am dedicated to supporting good causes and it would be rude to run a VLM without raising some cash for charity.[/p][p]So I have decided to support 2 charities this year and your donation will be split 50-50 between them.[/p][p]1. Bliss - In 2010 my daughter was born prematurely and spent the first 2 weeks of her life in a Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a first time parent it's scary enough just having a child, then all of that on top makes it a very stressful time. The overwhelming levels of knowledge and support from staff was amazing and helped us get through the process. The levels of care available were equally as good and we came to realise that the funding provided by the NHS just doesn't seem to cut it. A lot of NICU units need charitable donations too. Bliss is a national charity that seeks to improve the availability of NICU care, and the quality of it nationally so they get my support this year for the amazing work they do.[/p][p]2. The Stroke Association - In 2011 I lost my grandmother as a result of Stroke. She had one which meant she had to move from her home into full time care which was a difficult time for her and she was hopeful to get well and return home, but sadly further Stroke's meant this would never happen and she passed away in hospital. The Stoke association is a national charity that aim to reduce strokes through research, again they do amazing work so they get my support this year.[/p][p]If you do have a few spare quid knocking around please do make a donation to these great charities by sponsoring me, and I promise I'll earn every penny. Last year as a fun runner I completed the VLM in 03:43:27, this year as a club athlete I'm working hard to get this below 03:30:00 [/p][p]Thank you very much for reading, Happy New Year![/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
