My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]I ran the Virgin Money London Marathon on 26th April 2015 in 03:03:57 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Please sponsor me by donating a few quid to this page.[/p][p]Why did I do this?.... [/p][p]A colleague of mine Roger has recently been diagnosed with chronic leukaemia and at the time of me typing this (30/10/14) he is in hospital to have chemotherapy, his family are being tested for suitability of a bone marrow transplant and we all hope that treatment can go ahead soon. Shortly after he was diagnosed I found out I had got my own place in the London Marathon through the public ballot so I asked Roger which charity he'd like me to support and he chose this one. This means 100% of your donations will go to the charity and my place in the race costs them nothing. [/p][p]Furthermore I never met my father in law as he was sadly taken by this same disease in the mid 90's before I met my wife so this is a casue close to the hearts of my family and I.[/p][p]Childhood leukaemia is the most common form the cancer in children. In 1960 a child's chance of surviving was nil but now thanks to the research by Leukaemia & Lymphoma research nine out of ten children survive.[/p][p]More people under 40 die from blood cancer than any other type of cancer. The equation is simple, the more money raised the more lives we save. [/p][p]UPDATE! 09/03/2015 - Roger has had the bone marrow transplant the other week and is currently recovering in hospital.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
