Team story

[p]My name is Debbie; I am 63 and live in Coventry with my son. Several years ago, my dad Roy (87 years old), was diagnosed as partially blind, and in the last 12 months his sight has deteriorated considerably. Since his diagnosis, he has attended Warwickshire Vision Support in Nuneaton, a charity which holds regular workshops and networking events for individuals living with visual impairment. He has met some wonderful people at Warwickshire Vision Support, but he’s been particularly inspired by his friend Wendy, who took part in a charity skydive not long before they met. At one meeting she showed the group a go-pro video of her skydive; Dad was inspired by her courage and willingness to take on such a huge challenge to raise money for charity; so much so, that he has been inspired to organise his own skydive in October 2021. Luckily for him (I think!), I have wanted to do skydive for years – it’s always been on my bucket list![/p][p]Dad is doing the skydive to raise funds for Warwickshire Vision Support, who have been wonderful to him since becoming registered blind several years ago. He has made some great friends there and their support, resources and advice have been invaluable in supporting him and our family with adjusting to his visual impairment.[/p][p]I am raising funds for Guide Dogs UK; I am a total animal-lover and has always been passionate about supporting this charity, long before Dad became blind.[/p]
