My story

[p]As a keen mountain biker living in Aberdeen, lock-down has hit hard, and I have spent much of my time enviously watching mountain biking videos from all over the world. With the end (or at least some freedom) now in sight I thought I would challenge myself to make the most of the outdoors and take up a biking challenge.[/p][p]My original idea was the Strathpuffer 24 hour race, however I wanted to do something more flexible given the current situation with on-and-off lock downs! That's where the idea of biking the West Highland Way came from. It's a long, challenging, off-road trek ~96 miles starting in Milngavie and ending in Fort William. I aim to complete it in 1 day weather permitting, with a provisional start date of Sat 26th September.[/p][p]The charity I am supporting is Gravitate North East, their vision is to create a world class mountain bike and adventure sports destination for Aberdeenshire. This project will help and encourage locals and visitors to live more active, healthy and happier lifestyles.[/p][p] "With our lives becoming increasingly hectic, we recognise that being active outdoors and connecting with nature is more important than ever."[/p]
